“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”

Journeying with people (mostly women of color and queer folks) who seek healing, connection and liberation - beloved human beings, like you, who want to show up as their whole, complex, unique selves in their relationships, in their work and in the world — this is my calling. We work together to imagine and make real new ways of living and loving. As I hold space for you to feel seen, heard and validated, I meet you where you are on your journey with empathy, wisdom, and understanding.

MY STORY

What makes me qualified to do this work?

I'm a queer woman of color who has followed my own small voice and lived by my own standards of what is family, what is love, what is friendship, and what is success. I'm not afraid to stay true to myself, to build or seek what I want.

When I was a young girl and was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said “a wise old woman.” My parents wondered, “Who is this child?” and I was told I needed to become a lawyer, because I had too many questions and was willing to go against the grain. I didn’t go to law school, but I did train as a clinical therapist and public policy analyst. Now I am in seminary. I’ve always been interested in how people and systems change and evolve, and how we as humans navigate that process.

After spending my first 18 years living the life I was told to live, I started to listen to and trust the small voice inside myself. I upset and disappointed a lot of people – I still do. My family and community told me I didn’t belong, and I spent a decade picking up the pieces of my life and rebuilding myself into the person I was becoming. This wasn’t easy or fast, but it was life-saving.

I have spent 20+ years in therapy, practicing yoga, meditating, and learning from mentors. I liked therapy and yoga so much that I trained to be a mental health therapist and a yoga teacher. Along the way, I have learned many practices and skills to help me live intentionally, cultivate nourishing and healthy relationships and pursue a calling grounded in my values and commitments. Now I am in seminary unpacking and unlearning my ideas about God, spirituality and what it means to build liberatory communities. I bring all these experiences and training to the work I do.
